LIFEPAK 200

Automatic Advisory Defibrillator

Physio-Control Corporation

Introduced in 1985, the LIFEPAK 200 AAD was the first mass marketed automated defibrillator made by Physio-Control and was the first deployment of the Shock Advisory System in a commercial product.

Compared to other automated defibrillators of the time such as the Heart-Aid, the LP200 was far more accurate at identifying shockable vs nonshockable rhythms; so much so that the same Shock Advisory System has been used in every LIFEPAK AED made since with only minor changes to comply with changing protocols. The 200 had an optional LED bar next to the main LCD to display very limited ECG data, enough to make out a QRS.

By default the 200 charged to 200 joules but provided the operator with an option to override to 360J by pressing a button on the display module during the charge.
